In Practice
Why apparel is where RFID pays off first
- Size and color runs hide miscounts. A rack can look full while missing the two sizes that sell. Tag level counting shows exactly which variants are on the floor.
- Counts happen on the rack. A handheld reader sweeps a section and reads every hangtag in range, folded or hanging.
- Tags leave at the register. The hangtag comes off at checkout with the price ticket. Nothing stays on the garment.
Clothing tags are encoded in store and tracked in indexRFID. If you are starting from zero, the Starter Kit includes 2,000 labels in the format you choose.
Frequently Asked
RFID clothing tag questions
How do RFID clothing tags attach to garments?
The C8102 is a hangtag with a pre punched hole. It loop attaches at receiving through the same hole your price ticket uses, no plastic fastener gun required. Nothing touches the fabric.
Do RFID hang tags work on folded and boxed apparel?
Yes. UHF RFID reads by radio, not by line of sight, so a handheld reader counts garments folded on a table, boxed in the back room, or packed on a rack, without touching each item.
Are the tags pre encoded or do I encode them in store?
You encode them in store on the C8005 RFID printer, which prints the visible face and writes the chip in the same pass. That keeps the tag data matched to your own item numbers.
Can I order RFID clothing tags without buying a full kit?
Yes. Label packs are open to any buyer, in packs of 1,000 at $99.95 per 1,000, with card checkout and $19.95 nationwide flat rate shipping.
